Day 1: Fly to Buffalo / Niagara Falls
Fly to Buffalo and board our coach for the short drive to Niagara Falls, New York. Tonight, enjoy your Get Acquainted Dinner. Sheraton 4 Points, Niagara Falls, NY (D)
Day 2: Niagara Falls / Finger Lakes
View the falls this morning from the United States side before we depart for Lockport to see the “Flight of Five” locks of the famous 1825 Erie Canal. Continue on to Rochester to tour the elegant estate home of George Eastman of Kodak fame. Then, arrive in the fabled Finger Lakes region of New York to spend 2 nights in Geneva at our lakefront resort hotel. Enjoy dinner at a fine local winery. Ramada Lakeside, Geneva, NY (B,D)
Day 3: Food, Wine & Gardens
Today we visit nearby Canandaigua to visit the Victorian Sonnenburg Home & Gardens. Next, we tour the New York Culinary Center and enjoy a cooking demo and the gift shop. Then, enjoy a special treat, a tour and tasting at one of the region’s best wineries. Return to our hotel & relax. Ramada Lakeside, Geneva, NY (B,L)
Day 4: Geneva / Cooperstown
Spend the morning at the world famous Corning Glass factory and museum. Motor on to Victorian Elmira village. Learn about Mark Twain and enjoy lunch at the Hilltop Restaurant. Drive through Binghamton to quaint lakefront Cooperstown. There you have the choice of touring the Baseball Hall of Fame for one hour or shopping in the Victorian town. Day 5: Cooperstown to West Point
Drive east through the scenic Catskill Mountains. The fall colors should be spectacular. These mountains were once filled with elaborate, turn-of -the-century resorts that catered to the rich and famous. Day 6: Day Trip to Hyde Park
Motor north and cross the Hudson River to Hyde Park, home of the Roosevelts. Tour FDR’s home, Springwood, as well as his Presidential Library & Museum. Then, arrive at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA) for our gourmet Farewell Lunch. Next, tour Eleanor’s Val Kil cottage home prior to returning to your hotel this evening for free time and dinner on your own. Thayer Hotel, West Point, NY (B,L)
Day 7: Drive to Newark / Fly Home
This morning you’ll drive south to historic Tarrytown to tour the 1864 Lyndhurst “Gilded Age” home of railroad magnate Jay Gould. Then coach across to New Jersey for your return flight home from the Newark airport. (B)
