Breathe in the clear clean mountain air as you absorb the sight of three of the most famous mountains in Switzerland, the Monch, Eiger and Jungfrau with their rugged cliffs and blue crystalline glaciers shining in the sun. Experience unique travel by Swiss rail, cog-rail, funiculars, and inter-mountain cable cars, for they are the only mode of travel to these wondrous sights. Stroll through picturesque hamlets and villages, cozy in their valleys or clinging to their mountain peaks; soak up the culture and experience traditional Swiss cuisine.

Day 1: Fly to Zurich
Depart for Zurich, Switzerland. (IFM)
Day 2: Zurich / Lauterbrunnen / Wengen
Arrive in Zurich, board our coach and travel to the capital city, Bern, to see the Rose Gardens & Glockenspiel. Then, it’s up into the massive Swiss Alps. The scenery is increasingly spectacular as you arrive in Lauterbrunnen, with its towering cliffs. Then, travel by cog-rail up to the enchanting alpine village of Wengen for 7 nights (altitude 4,180′). Wengen, Hotel Silberhorn (D)
Day 3: Wengen / Interlaken / Lake Steamer Cruise
Enjoy a day trip to Interlaken to shop for woolens, lace, and watches. Ride the vintage cog railway up to Schynige Platte for an incredible view (altitude 6,800′). Later, cruise across Lake Brienz to visit the Wood Carving School. Later, board Swiss Rail back to Lauterbrunnen, then cog rail up to Wengen. (B,D)
Day 4: Wengen / Jungfraujoch Option / Grindelwald
Free morning or optional rail up to the Jungfraujoch Mountain at 11,133 feet (optional at approx $85 pp due to high altitude). This afternoon, we will all go via cog railway to Grindelwald for shopping. Continue on to “First Summit” via Europe’s longest cable car (altitude 7,600′). Then, return to Wengen via the Männlichenbahn cable car. (B,D)
Day 5: Wengen / Schwarzwald / Aare Gorge
Ride the cable car & gondola over to Grindelwald to board a Postbus bus for an excursion over the Grosse Scheidegg to Schwarzwaldalp. Stop and walk thru the amazing 600′ deep Aare River Gorge or take the bus to Meiringen and visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Then, ride the Swiss Rail along Lake Brienz and back to Interlaken and Wengen. (B,D)
Day 6: Wengen / Lauterbrunnen Valley
Board the cograil for an excursion to the glacier-carved Lauterbrunnen Valley. Board a Postbus to Trummelbach Falls. Go inside the mountain and see how the falls have carved incredible caves. Next, take the cable car to Gimmelwald, then to Murren for free time. Ride the funicular up to Allmendhubel (altitude 6,200′) for the view, or take the optional Schilthorn cable car up to Piz Gloria (9,700’) (additional cost), setting for the 1969 James Bond movie. Day 7: Wengen / Free Time / Zermatt Option
Enjoy free time in Wengen to shop, hike, or explore with your Travel Pass. OR join our optional day trip to Zermatt to view the Matterhorn (weather permitting). Travel by train over, under, and thru the Alps to the ski resort of Zermatt. Free time here or if the weather is good, ride the optional train up Gornergrat Mountain (10,300’) (additional costs approx. $85 pp) the setting used in the 1969 James Bond Movie. Return after a long but very rewarding day. (B)
Day 8: Harder Kulm / Free Time
Enjoy a trip down to the historic Harder Kulm cog rail for a spectacular view of Lake Thun & Brienze (or similar excursion). For the July departure, this will be Swiss National “Confederation” Day, the 729th birthday of Switzerland. Enjoy local street parties, parades, food stalls, folk music & dancing, alpine horn blowing, fireworks & bonfires. (B,D)
Day 9: Lucerne / Zurich
Descend on the now familiar cog-rail train. Board your private motorcoach and motor over Brunig pass to Lucerne. See the Lion’s Monument and Chapel Bridge. Continue to Zurich for the night and your Farewell Dinner. Dorint Hotel, Zurich (B,D)
Day 10: Zurich / Fly Home
Transfer to the Zurich airport and fly home. (B,IFM)
