  • Day 1: Depart Indianapolis/Davenport IA/Rock Island IL/Le Claire, IA
    Depart the Indianapolis area by coach. Enroute we’ll stop for lunch on your own.  This afternoon we’ll take tour of the Isabella Bloom sculpture studio in Davenport, Iowa. You’ll have behind-the-scenes access to every step in the making of an Isabel Bloom sculpture. Then indulge yourself at Shameless Chocolate. This evening step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, a young prince trapped under the spell of an  enchantress in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast at the beautifully restored historic Rock Island 1920s theatre, Circa’21 dinner playhouse.  Comfort Inn, Le Claire, IA (B,D)

    Day 2: Riverboat Twilight Cruise: Le Claire to Dubuque

    Day 3: Dubuque, IA
    After breakfast we’ll explore “Where Iowa Started.”  Expect the unexpected today! Our first stop is New Melleray Abbey for morning prayer sung by monks and a surprise unique experience.  Then on to Convivium Urban Farmstead build around the mission of “celebrating community and food” where we’ll enjoy lunch and a tour.  Take in the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium located in the Port of Dubuque which offers a wide array of wildlife displays, hands on exhibits and demonstrations.  Ride the Fenelon Place Elevator, the world’s shortest, steepest railway and  enjoy the views on top!  But the day is not done.  This evening enjoy a Progressive Dinner in three of Dubuque’s historic sites and be entertained as local performers share facts about the families and events that made Dubuque so unique in the 19th century.  Hotel Julien, Dubuque, IA (B,L,D)

    Day 4: Dubuque, IA / Galena, IL / Indianapolis
    Depart Dubuque for historic Galena where you’ll tour the Historic Grant Home & Museum. On August 18, 1865, Galena celebrated the return of its Civil War hero General Ulysses S. Grant. Following a jubilant procession with much flag waving and speeches, a group of Galena citizens presented the General with a handsome furnished house on Bouthillier Street. The house is managed by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency as the U.S. Grant Home State Historic Site. Then you’ll understand the real meaning of the phrase “shop ’til you drop” once you hit the streets of Galena Country. Voted one of “America’s Best Main Streets” by Fodor’s Travel and Parade.com, you’ll love browsing through Galena’s 19th-century downtown with more than 100 storefronts featuring clothing, jewelry, collectibles, specialty items, gifts and more.  Enjoy your free time for shopping and lunch on your own before departing for home.
