The City of Brotherly Love has much to offer its travelers and you get a firsthand look at where it all began. The sights, sounds and smells of Philly are unmistakable! Venture for a day “down the shore” as you visit the quaint Victorian town of Cape May N.J. It is charm with a capital “C”.
Your next stop will be to venture back to the gilded age of the Gold Coast- brought to life for us by Gatsby! Our Interlude closes with a tour of the diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn where your palate will be rewarded with some of the best the east has to offer. Day 1: Fly to Philly
Fly to the City of Brotherly Love, and one of the hotbeds of the American Revolution – Philadelphia, and transfer to your hotel for three nights. Wyndam, Philadelphia, PA
Day 2: Philly City Tour / Independence Hall / Constitution Center
Meet our local guide for a morning city tour of this historic, colonial city including the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Christ Church, Elfreth’s Alley, Betsy Ross House, Ben Franklin’s Post Office, & Fairmont Park. Lunch on your own to sample such Philly specialties as cheesesteak, roast pork, soft pretzels, or water ice. Then, tour Independance Hall and the National Constitution Center. Experience innovative exhibits and walk among 42 life-size bronze statues of the founding fathers. Return to your hotel and relax prior to dinner at local landmark restaurant. Day 3: Day Trip to Cape May
Today, visit the seaside resort town of Cape May. Preservation of its Victorian architecture resulted in the entire city being designated as a National Historic Landmark. Enjoy a red trolley tour, before touring the Physick Mansion. Then, after an included lunch and free time, drive the coast back to Philly. Return to your hotel for a free evening. Day 4: Philly / Long Island
Free time this morning with your choice of visiting the Barnes Collection of more than 3,000 art masterpieces, or the NEW Museum of the American Revolution. Day 5: Gold Coast Mansions
The Great Gatsby’s Gilded Age extravagance is on display today as you visit mansions from that era. At the turn of the last century during the industrial revolution, great fortunes were made by many. The wealthy made Long Island their home, or summer home. Grand estates were built, many of which imported fixtures, materials and art from around the world. These estates are an enchanting time capsule of a vanished era. We will also tour historic Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, former home of President Teddy Roosevelt. Day 6: Southampton & Montauk
Meet your local guide for the day and coach to the “original Hampton,” Southampton, with its charming village and famed beaches. Partake in a tour and time for shopping in this haven for artists. Day 7: Brooklyn / Fly Home
