Your Brandywine & Poconos Vacation will charm you with its history, art, antiques, mansions and gardens and a most unique brand of country casual hospitality when you visit the beautiful pastoral scenes of the Brandywine Valley. The valley offers you a taste of American aristocracy and their extravagant lifestyles. Here the DuPonts made their fortunes, built their mansions, and where three generations of Wyeths have lived and painted the landscapes and people of Chadds Ford.  Visit Nemours Mansion, the seventy plus room home of Alfred DuPont featuring the Louis XVI style of architecture and Versailles-like gardens. You’ll also visit the famed Longwood Mansion and Gardens, home of Pierre DuPont. Here you’ll walk the beautiful Italianate gardens and enjoy the magnificent marble statuary and impressive fountains. Don’t miss the conservatory with acres of plants, including a room of orchids – sensory perfection.

Day trips are planned to Philadelphia to take in the historical sights of the “City of Brotherly Love,” as well as a visit to Hershey for a day of chocolate immersion, from museums to Chocolate World.

Upon leaving the Brandywine Valley your senses will be treated to spectacular waterfalls, sparkling lakes and rushing rivers as you approach your destination of the historic Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. From this luxury resort you will sojourn through the picturesque Pocono Mountains to the historic Victorian town of Jim Thorpe. Called the “Switzerland of America,” Jim Thorpe boasts quaint scenery, and fantastic architecture. While in Jim Thorpe you will tour the historic 1861 Asa Packer Mansion. Built by the founder of Lehigh University, the three story mansion is noted to be one of the best preserved Italianate Villa homes in the United States.
