    Day 2 – Portland / Bend
Today features great scenery as we head to the Columbia River Gorge! First stop, spectacular Multnomah Falls! It cascades more than 600-feet. According to Native American lore, Multnomah Falls was created to win the heart of a young princess who wanted a hidden place to bathe. Now we’ll enter Hood River’s “Fruit Loop” to continue up the mountain to tour Timberline Lodge. Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977, Timberline Lodge is one of Oregon’s most popular tourist attractions. Considered an architectural wonder, it’s still being used for its original intent – a magnificent ski lodge and mountain retreat for all to enjoy. President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the completed lodge in person on September 28, 1937. Lunch is served at another one of Oregon’s beautiful lodges Kah-Nee-Ta Lodge first started by a non-Native American doctor who owned land around the Warm Springs River. In 1961, the Tribes purchased the land back and started to rebuild. We’ll stop at the awe-inspiring Crooked River Gorge lookout, the gorge is 500-foot-deep and surrounded by 400-foot cliffs and is filled with a variety of wildlife. Our Day ends in the luxury of Sun River Resort in Bend. For nearly a century, timber production was the unchallenged king in Bend, at their peak, the Brooks-Scanlon and Shevlin-Hixon operations were two of the largest pine sawmills in the world, running around the clock and employing more than 2,000 workers each. Fairfield Inn, Bend, OR (B, L)

    Day 3 – Bend / Ashland / Crater Lake
Today, we’ll visit legendary Crater Lake, a place of inspiration people for thousands of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom. Enjoy some free time for lunch on your own in the Cafeteria. After lunch, a ranger will join us for a rim tour (weather permitting). We’ll circle the lake making several stops for photos and to hear about the history and the native people that lived here. Enjoy the beautiful drive as we head down the mountain. Our home for the next two nights is the quaint town of Ashland. Nestled at the base of the convergence of the Siskiyou and Cascade mountain ranges, Ashland’s cultural, culinary and outdoor experiences are unmatched. It’s also home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of the largest and oldest regional theaters in the country. You’ll have plenty of time to get cozy in your room, before we head to the Oregon Cabaret Theater for a wonderful dinner show. Ashland Hills Hotel, Ashland, OR (B, D)

    Day 4 – Ashland
We’re off to our backstage tour! It’s the “show behind the show” revealing what it takes to produce 11 plays, in rotating repertory, in three theaters, each season. We’ll visit Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s theater auditoriums and the area behind the Elizabethan Stage. You’ll have some free time this afternoon to explore this charming town on your own, before we head to another great town, Jacksonville. Gold fever, wagon trains, Indian uprisings, epidemics and the settlement of a new frontier are all part of Jacksonville’s heritage. The Jacksonville Historic District was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1966. With over 100 structures included in the National Register, residents are proud to help maintain the town and its history. We’ll stop for a wine tasting at Valley View Winery, then head back to Ashland for a delicious dinner at Beasy’s on the Creek. Established in 1996, Beasy’s began the tradition of serving consistently high quality steaks, fresh seafood, and tasty pastas. After dinner, we’ll head to the Oregon Shakespeare Theater for one of their fantastic plays. Ashland Hills Hotel, Ashland, OR (B, D)

    Day 5 – Ashland / Coos Bay
Today features more great scenery. Get ready for the fun, as we’re whisked down the Rogue River on board Hellgate Jetboat Excursions. You’ll view old floodwater marks on the narrow heights above, and close-ups of remarkable rock shapes carved by the river’s hydraulics. See the canyon where John Wayne and Katherine Hepburn filmed “Rooster Cogburn,” and Matt Dillon plunged into the depths to escape a gang in hot pursuit in “Gunsmoke.” On the return trip we’ll stop at the OK Corral, where you can relax and enjoy a unique lunch experience on an open-air deck, reserved exclusively for our Jetboat guests, overlooking the beautiful Rogue River. We’ll continue north to Coos Bay and our home for the night, The Mill Casino Hotel. It features stunning waterfront views of Coos Bay in the Northwest-inspired lobby, and million-dollar panoramic bay views from every suite, just steps away from the casino gaming floor. The Mill Hotel & Resort, North Bend OR (B, L)

    Day 6 – Coos Bay / Newport
Our first stop today is Sand Land Adventures Dune Buggy Tours. A scenic way to experience the dunes, with a touch of excitement! “Informative and fun,” describes this one hour dune buggy tour covering approximately 15 miles of dunes, and 3 miles of ocean beach. Climbing and descending through these beautiful, impressive dunes will be an unforgettable experience for travelers to Oregon. The dune buggy is the perfect vehicle for an exciting, safe, and easy-going tour of the spectacular Dunes! Lunch on your own in Old Town Florence. This picturesque fishing village is situated on the banks of the Siuslaw River. It’s beautifully restored, and home to several restaurants – including the famous “Mo’s” art galleries, specialty shops, a fly-fishing museum and more! Spend some time here for lunch and browsing. Keep your cameras ready as we head up spectacular Highway 101.

Welcome to Newport! It’s nestled between the Coast Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and Yaquina Bay. The natural beauty of the area draws those seeking a unique coastal experience. Enjoy awesome ocean views from your luxury oceanfront room. We’ll head to the historic Bayfront where we’ll board the Marine Discovery for a bay cruise. Enjoy a great naturalist guide specializing in whales, oyster farming, and sea and shore wildlife, with a big screen television for viewing microscopic marine life! Drive the boat & pull crab pots, as we explore the incredible scenery of the ocean bay and rivers. Look for seals, sea lions, and an abundance of sea birds, and learn about the aquatic habitat. This is always a great time! Next is a behind-the-scenes tour of the Oregon Coast Aquarium. What does it take to care for a 1 million gallon goldfish bowl? Come with us to see the ins and outs of the aquarium world. Later, it’s a catered dinner in the Shark Tank! We’ll dine under the sea in the “Passages of the Deep.” This unique setting combines the Aquarium and the Gleason event room to allow a stroll through the undersea tunnels, while enjoying dinner. A series of underwater walkways leads you from the dark, quiet canyons of the Orford Reef, through the sparkling and teeming waters of Halibut Flats, and finally into the vast blue expanse of the open sea, where you will see sharks. Elizabeth Street Inn, Newport, OR (B, D)

    Day 7 – Newport / Portland
Today, we’ll continue north to Wine Country, beautiful McMinnville! First stop, Evergreen Aviation Museum, home of the Spruce Goose.  This airplane, built entirely of wood, is the largest wood plane ever built. The Spruce Goose represents one of man’s greatest attempts to conquer the skies. The museum celebrates aviation’s rich history, honors the patriotic service of our veterans, and offers enlightening educational programs. It also houses a great collection of space memorabilia, and an I-Max theater. Enjoy some free time to explore the flavors of Historic Downtown McMinnville offering thirteen winemakers, three craft brewers, six fine dining options, numerous café’s and coffee shops, two chocolatiers and a bevy of fabulous boutiques.
