TRAVEL ITINERARY

Day 1: Indianapolis / Anchorage
Fly into Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Transfer via hotel courtesy shuttle and overnight in Anchorage. Inlet Tower Suites, Ramada Downtown or similar, Anchorage

Day 2: Anchorage / Fairbanks
Deluxe motorcoach for today’s spectacular narrated journey to Fairbanks; better known to Alaskans as the Golden Heart City. Drive through the Matanuska Susitna Valley where world record monster size vegetables grow in the 24-hour daylight and hear agricultural tales. The route takes you along the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the U.S. and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Check into your Fairbanks hotel for two nights. Day 3: Fairbanks
Today learn how the gold rush affected Alaska's interior on a sightseeing tour with an included visit to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Museum. Time is available for shopping, walking or dining on your own in the downtown area. Cruise on the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. Travel back to the time when traditional riverboats plied the waterways of Alaska’s interior during the late 1800’s. (Tonight, partake in an optional authentic salmon bake & transfer $47/person). Day 4: Fairbanks / Denali
Ride the motorcoach south to Denali National Park. Enjoy an afternoon of exploring this pristine area at your leisure by either participating in a complimentary park service activity or optional tour. There are many to choose from including mild or wild river rafting, flight seeing Mt. McKinley, a jet boat safari on the Nenana River or a visit to the award winning dog kennels of 2006 Iditarod champion, Jeff King. Overnight Denali for two nights. Day 5: Denali
Today travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. This six to eight hour journey is narrated allowing for insight into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region. Denali Bluffs, Denali River Cabins or similar. (B, SBM)

Day 6: Denali / Anchorage
Enjoy a morning of leisure for on own exploration. This afternoon board the world famous Alaska Railroad for the day trip to Anchorage. As you travel along the Susitna River, you may catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. McKinley or black bear along the banks. Overnight Anchorage for two nights. Day 7: Anchorage
Enjoy a city tour of Anchorage, which includes the historic downtown district. Included visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place that celebrates, perpetuates and shares Alaska Native cultures. Tonight, feast on an Alaskan style meal and share tales from the road with your traveling companions. Inlet Tower Suites, Ramada Downtown or similar. Anchorage (B, D)

Day 8: Anchorage / Kenai / Homer
Motorcoach tour to the central peninsula community of Kenai. Travel through the old town village and learn about the Russian Orthodox influence. Continue south and see spectacular scenery like volcanoes on the far side of the Cook Inlet, lush green valleys and an array of wildflowers. Visit the Alaska Islands & Ocean Center, your window to the largest seabird refuge in the world. Included "Welcome to Homer" dinner. Overnight in Homer. Day 9: Homer / Soldotna / Girdwood
Head north to Soldotna and the banks of the Kenai River. Take a stroll down the dock to watch fishermen in this world class destination and visit the Historical Society Museum to see early homestead cabins, the first area schoolhouse and enjoy the nature trail. Continue to Girdwood, located in the scenic Portage River Valley. Overnight Girdwood. (B)

Day 10: Girdwood / Anchorage
Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for an up close look at some of Alaska’s land critters. Continue touring to the port of Whittier and cruise the calm and protected waters of Prince William Sound. Come face to face with tidewater glaciers plus an amazing array of wildlife. Motorcoach tour to Anchorage for overnight accommodations. Inlet Tower Suites, Ramada Downtown or similar, Anchorage (B, L)

Day 11: Anchorage / Indianapolis
